Willson Administrative Building Exterior Preservation & Auditorium Restoration

Built in the 1930s, the Bozeman School District’s large-scale Willson Administrative Building is primarily a cast-in-place concrete structure with exposed concrete walls in the Art Deco style. Our historic preservation efforts stabilized potentially dangerous conditions on the exterior, eliminated water intrusion that had compromised the integrity of parts of the building, and provided an overall exterior facelift. Stone veneer was reattached at locations where masonry anchors failed, masonry units were repointed, spalling concrete was patched (including an intensive parapet rebuild and window header repair), cast-in-place concrete details were restored, windows were replaced for energy efficiency, and all surfaces were cleaned and sealed.

Our team also oversaw several interior renovations of the building, including a major restoration of the auditorium and updates to the office suites, lobby, and corridor that addressed accessibility, indoor air quality, and other safety updates. The auditorium renovation improved function and performance, including acoustics, lighting, heating, and ventilation.
